Special Train Between Velankanni & Madgaon Announced: Click For Details

The Konkan Railway has announced a special train between Velankanni and Madgaon. The trains will depart from Madgaon at 12 PM on September 6, reach Kundapura at 4:20 PM, and arrive in Velankanni at 12 PM the next day. The return journey will start at 11:50 PM on the same day, reaching Kundapura by 6:40 PM the next evening and arriving in Madgaon by 11 PM.

Following a request from the coastal Christian community, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary had directed the Konkan Railway Corporation to announce a special train between Velankanni and Madgaon. In a petition submitted to the Kundapura Railway Committee, the Kundapura Christian community requested the initiation of a special Velankanni train for the Velankanni festival which will be held in September. Acting on this request, the President of the Kundapura Railway Committee, Ganesh Puthran, urged the MP to consider the plea.

Depending on the response to this special train, a regular service might be considered in the future, according to sources.
