Stairs of this Famous Temple Damaged due to Rain: Know more

August 8: The average rainfall in the last 24 hours from Tuesday, August 6  8.30am was 100.3mm in the Dakshina Kannada District. The rough sea has been causing havoc along the coast resulting is sea erosion.
Several properties have been damaged due to heavy rains that lashed the district for the past three days.
On Wednesday, the stairs leading to the famous Someshwara Temple known as Rudrapada Kshetra at Ullal, about 14km from mangalore city, was damaged as the strong waves eroded its foundation.

This temple is a pilgrimage centre for performing last rites for departed souls. The temple was built by Kings of Alupa Dynasty in the 10th century AD. The two inscriptions inside the temple mentions that it was renovated in the 15th century A.D. during the time of Vijayanagara King Immadi Devaraya.
The stairs at the other end of the temple are also facing danger with advancing rough sea waves.
