State High Court Finalizes a Date to Complete the Election Process of MCC

August 28: The state high court has directed the state election commission to complete the entire election process of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) here before October 31 and make sure that the new administration takes over before November 15.
This order was passed by the high court after hearing a public interest litigation filed by Abdul Farooq and others from the city in the high court.
The petitioners complained that MCC elections were not conducted by the SEC and the period of six months term of the administrative officer posted to the corporation would expire next month and that there were no stay orders against holding the election.
After hearing the arguments,  high court directed the SEC to complete the election process and assure that the new administration takes over before November 15.
