Strict Implementation of Ban on Single-Use Plastic: DC Rajendra Direct Action Against Violators

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. K V Rajendra instructed the concerned officials to strictly implement the ban on single-use plastic in the district.

The DC further said, “According to the plastic waste handling rules of 2016, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice cream sticks, plates, cups, spoons, forks, trays, sweet boxes and Cigarette packets should not be produced, imported, stocked, distributed, sold and used. This rule is in implementation strictly from July 1, 2022.

MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Shetty, Mayor Premanand Shetty, Zilla panchayat CEO Dr Kumar, Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Akshay Sridhar, Environment department officer Kirthi Kumar and others were present.
