The 68-Year-Old Arch Bridge At Kuloor Likely To Be Closed For Repairs

February 10: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to repair the 68-year-old arch bridge over the Falguni river at Kuloor on National Highway 66.

The proposal to build a new bridge is estimated at a cost of Rs 66 crore the construction of the new bridge will take 2-3 year. Therefore, NHAI has decided to repair the old bridge for now. The cost of the repairs of the old bridge is estimated to be Rs 38 lakhs.
NHAI has already written to the district administration in Dakshina Kannada to stop vehicular traffic on the bridge from February 20 for at least ten days. During the repair works the traffic will have to be diverted to the new bridge. The traffic coming from Udupi will be diverted right to the new bridge and after crossing the bridge it will be diverted left back to the road leading to the flyover.
Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sindhu B. Rupesh mentioned that a meeting will be held with Traffic Police within a few days and the alternative arrangement will be notified during the closure of the bridge for repair.
