The Annual Feast at Infant Jesus Shrine in Mangalore to Begin on January 14

January 4: The annual feast of Infant Jesus at Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill, Bikarnakatte – Mangalore will be celebrated from January 14 to 16. Fr Wilfred Rodrigues, Superior, St Joseph’s Monastery said that festal mass will be held on January 14 at 10.30 am and will be presided by Arch Bishop of Patna Rev Dr William D’ Souza.
The festal mass on January 15 at 10.30 am will be presided over by Most Rev Dr Antony Alwyn Baretto, Bishop of Sindhdurg and at 6 pm will be presided over by Most Rev D Bernard Moras, Arch Bishop Emeritus of Bengaluru.
The festal Mass on January 16 at 10.30 am will be presided over by Most Rev Dr Henry D’ Souza, Bishop of Bellary and at 6 pm will be presided over by Very Rev Fr Maxim Noronha, Vicar General of Mangalore.
The formal inauguration of the festivity will be held on January 4 at 5.30 pm with the votive offering procession beginning at Jayashree Gate followed by flag hoisting.
Fr Rodrigues said in preparation for the annual feast, nine days Novena prayers will be held from January 5 to January 13. Nine masses will be held during the novena. Masses at 6 am, 7.30 am, 9 am and 10.30 am and 1 pm will be held in Konkani. The mass at 4 pm will be in Malayalam, at 5 pm in English and 7 pm in Kannada. The main mass at 6 pm will be celebrated in Konkani in the open air.
He said that a blood donation camp is being organised at the shrine campus on January 9, from 9 am to 1 pm in collaboration with Fr Muller’s Medical College, Hospital. The meal will be served to the devotees on all the days of novena and feast.
