There is High Demand to Start Additional Domestic Flights From Mangalore International Airport

Mangalore International Airport (MIA) as almost reached pre-Covid levels, in terms of passenger and flight movements, there is high demand to start additional flights to Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, and Delhi sectors and also to connect newer destinations such as Kochi in Kerala, Kolkata in West Bengal, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat, with non-stop flights.

Mangalore International Airport currently has direct non-stop domestic flights to Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Pune, and Hyderabad. However, MIA is yet to connect directly to several other major cities, and there is demand to start at least one or two flights a week. The average footfall at MIA, as of August 2023 was 5,354 flyers a day. It was around 6,000 per day during pre-Covid days.

According to sources from an air carrier operating from MIA, so far there is no updates to start or add additional flights. However, SpiceJet is planning to return and add two flights per day to the Bengaluru route in the coming days.
