August 6: Udupi Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba R Korlapati has launched a Seat belt campaign with a purpose on Facebook. She has started this #SeatBelt campaign on July 29, in an attempt to spread awareness on road safety. She nominated 10 ladies including few IAS officers to post selfies with the seatbelt for the challenge. This could either be in the driver’s seat or on the side seat or as a passenger on the cab.
“Wear seatbelt, share the photograph on your wall. Let’s take this message far and wide to ensure road safety while we travel every day,” was mentioned in her post on Facebook. The campaign has evoked a positive response among the public and is gaining popularity. Several people are posting pictures with their seatbelts secure.
DC Hephsiba said that the response to the campaign is overwhelming. She also mentioned that this is an attempt to spread awareness among youth which has to be a collective effort. She hoped that this chain continues and the purpose is met.
