This Small Eatery Known as ‘Ajja Ajji Mane’ is Quite Popular in Manipal: Food Served With Love

A small eatery known as ‘Ajja Ajji Mane’ in Rajgopal Nagar in Maipal has become quite popular among the people. The eatery is run by Ajja and ajji, as they’re fondly called. They serve unlimited traditional food which includes rasam, dal, fries, pickle, salad, curd and other items, for only Rs 50
to their customers on banana leaves. On an average, they serve lunch to around 60 customers.

While Gopalkrishna Prabhu (79) manages the cooking, Vasanthi Prabhu (71) takes care of the outside work. The hotel Ganesh Prasad in Parkala, was started by Ramanna Prabhu, (Gopalkrishna Prabhu’s father). For nearly 72 years, the hotel Ganesh Prasad was operating from a building on the main road in Parkala. Last year, because of the road widening works, the hotel had to be closed down, and they started offering take away services from their home during lockdown. Once colleges reopened in December, they started operating from our house. Office-goers and students are their regular customers. The customers love the place, because of the feeling of having home cooked food.
