This temple in Udupi is the only one in coastal district to have rare medicinal trees

June 29: Sri Subrahmanya temple in Kukkikatte, Udupi, popularly known as Muchlakodu temple has caught the attention of people recently due to rare medicinal plants found at the temple premises.
The temple has 6 acres of land which has thousands of huge trees including very precious and rare trees. This is the only tree in coastal district which has medicinal plants in such huge numbers. There are nearly 150 species of special trees in the temple premises.
The plants include Tulsi, Aloevera, Pudina, Hemp known for their medicinal uses. The temple also includes common fruit trees like mango, jackfruit, guava and amla. Along with this there are trees like rohitaka, indian rose chestnut, cobra’s saffron, Kadusampige or champak, asoka, Indian mahoganuy, gulmohar tree and many more.
the temple also has Bael which is known as themost sacred leaf offered to lord Shiva.
