Twenty Six Year Old Engineer From Dakshina Kannada Quits Job At USA: Joins Indian Army

Twenty Six year old Sathwik from Belthangady, is one among the 288 gentleman cadets ready to defend the country, after rigorous military training at the Indian Military AcademyDehradun. As he completed his training, a passing out parade was held on June 11 at Dehradun. After completing two weeks of orientation training at Jabalpur, he will join the telecommunication wing of a regiment in Jammu, as a lieutenant.

A family member said that all cadets have been given a break of three weeks, before reporting for their new postings. Sathwik is the son of retired principal Prof Ganapathi Bhat Kulamarva and Vasanthi, a lecturer. He completed his primary schooling at St Theresa School, Belthangady, and PU from SDM College, Ujire. He obtained his BE from PESIT Bengaluru, and MS in electrical engineering at Arizona University  USA. He worked for a brief period, and returned to India. He spent two years preparing for the Indian Army exams.

Sathwik stated that “I was fascinated by the Indian Army at a very young age. However, I had to work in the USA to pay back the loan taken to complete my education. Once I cleared the loan, I came back to India and prepared myself for the examination. I trained myself physically around the surroundings of my house. I got selected in the technical graduation course 133″
