Two Divisions of KSRTC in the District Incurred Huge Loss: Know More About This
August 15: Heavy rain that occurred in Dakshina Kannada District triggered floods and landslides in several places. This resulted in Closure of Charmadi ghat and Shiradi ghat due to which the bus services were suspended. Even though a few buses operated in alternative roads it increases the distance and diesel cost.
Therefore, Mangalore division of KSRTC has incurred a loss of about Rs 1 crore and Puttur division has incurred a loss of Rs 93.44 lakh in the past one week. Nearly 900 schedules were completely affected and 1,100 schedules were partially suspended in these two divisions due to closure of Charmadi Ghat, partial closure of Shiradi Ghat, collapse of bridges and floods. A total of 130 buses operating between Mangalore- Bangalore, out of which services of 50% of them were stopped due to restriction on movement of vehicles on Shiradi Ghat (until Monday).
