Ullal Municipality to Become Self-Reliable Regarding Solid Waste Management Within 6 Months

The Ullal City Municipality has launched the Ullal Brand organic manure that is produced using the wet waste collected from across the city and will stop depending on Pachanady for solid waste management within six months. The Ullal municipality generates nearly 12 tonnes of wet waste and has increased its manure production by adding more units. Within six months, the city municipality will be able to process all the wet waste on its own without sending it to Pachanady.

The urban local body has been processing both dry and wet waste generated by about 65,000 residents. While dry waste in the municipality area is being recycled, wet waste is being converted into manure and is being used by farmers in and around Ullal. CMC commissioner Rayappa said that awareness is being created among the citizens to encourage people to segregate waste at the source and also the municipality does not accept mixed waste.
