Unauthorised Street Vendors Eviction Drive to be Launched Soon by MCC

Mangalore city Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur said that Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) will launch a drive to evict illegal footpath vendors in the city. All footpaths will be cleared for the convenience of pedestrians.

The mayor received several complaints about street food vendors during the phone in programme after which the decision was taken. Several street vendors encroach the footpath area in Mahaveer Circle and Kankanady posing a hindrance to the movement of pedestrians.

The mayor said he has directed revenue officials to conduct a survey of the govt land to mark vending zones for street vendors in each ward. After the marking of vending zones, if the street vendors continue to encroach footpaths, then action will be taken against them. The mayor also directed health and revenue officials of the MCC to clear all those street vendors who pose a hindrance to the movement of pedestrians in various parts of the city.
