Unsegregated Waste From Houses in Mangalore Will Not Be Collected: More Information on This

Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has decided not to collect garbage from houses in Mangalore if the the waste is not segregated into wet & dry waste. Even though his rule existed it was not strictly implemented by the MCC so far. As per a notification issued by the State’s pollution Control Boar, following the disaster at Pachanady, the MCC has decided to strictly follow the rule.
Accordingly, household garbage must be segregated as wet waste & dry waste. Wet waste will be collected daily except on Fridays whereas, dry waste will be collected only on Fridays. MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar said that apart from rule of waste segregation, a fine of Rs 10000 will be imposed if people are found throwing waste in public places or on roads.
