Vehicle Movement Restored to Its Original System at Kalsanka Junction: Barricades Removed Due to Opposition From Public
The barricades blocking Kalsanka Junction and the associated traffic diversions have been removed near Udupi following significant public opposition and intervention by former MLA Raghupati Bhat. Traffic movement has been restored to its original system at the junction.
The traffic diversions were implemented in late December due to heavy vehicle congestion. Vehicles were rerouted from Ambagilu and Gundibailu toward Kadiyali and vehicles from Manipal to the city bus stand. After addressing public grievances, discussions were held with the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, resulting in the decision to remove the barricades.
To manage traffic during extended holidays and weekends, especially with a high influx of tourists, situational traffic control measures will be put in place. Additionally, MLA Suvarna stated that traffic signals will soon be installed at Kalsanka Junction. This will be funded by the municipality and implemented following guidelines provided by the police department.
