Villages in Dakshina Kannada set up Private Anganwadis: Click to Know why

July 26: Despite several complaints against an anganwadi centre in Kolli village, Belthangady taluk, Dakshina Kannada district authorities have not yet probed into the issue.
Upset with the government for not looking into their complaints, villagers have now come together to open a childcare centre with assistance from local women. This centre is run by the women and child welfare department. This parallel anganwadi which is close to the government centre is functioning since March.
Parents of the children Alleged that their children were not treated properly at the anganwadi centres. They submitted complaints to the Lokayukta, deputy commissioner, zilla panchayat CEO, Belthangady tahsildar and many other officials.
Women and child welfare department deputy director Sundara Poojary said a committee has been formed to probe the complaints and the committee headed by tahsildar has already visited the spot.  He mentioned that the panel will visit the village again and submit a final report to the deputy commissioner. A decision will be taken based on the report.
