Viral Video on Unhygienic Food Stall During Dasara Festival in Mangalore Prompts MCC to Raid & Take Action

A video shot by a customer at a stall that sells ‘matka soda’ near Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple during Dasara festival, showed how dirty the process of preparing drinks was. The earthen pots used to serve matka soda were being washed in the same bucket of water, which had turned black, till late night.

The video prompted the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to act immediately. A team of officers from the MCC conducted raids at the festival stalls near Kudroli and Mangaladevi temples in the city. The matka soda shop, which was functioning near the Kudroli temple, was raided and closed after seizing all items. Meanwhile, officials also visited all food stalls near temples in the city and warned of action. Merchants were given a strict warning to ensure cleanliness, while preparing food items.
