Volunteers Clean Hampankatta Area: Work to be Continued Next Sunday
August 14: The 36th week of Shramadan under Swacchata Abhiyan by Ramakrishna Mission was carried out in Hampankatta area in Mangalore City. The shramadan was jointly flagged by Swami Satyeshananda, assistant general secretary, Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission, Belur Mutt, and Swami Saukhyananda of Ramakrishna Mission, Shivanahalli, Bengaluru Taluk, in the presence of Swami Jitakamananda and in front of the Sri Krishna Bhavan Auto Stand on Ganapathi High School Road.
The auto drivers of Sri Krishna Bhavan Auto Stand cleared a black spot prone to littering near the stand. They removed the stones scattered in the parking lot, levelled the groundand placed pots with flowering plants.
Few volunteers cleaned the garbage lying in a corner of Light House Hill Road. The volunteers cleaned the walls of university College and the District Wenlock Hospital which are faded due to heavy rain. Some volunteers removed the damaged tiles, and levelled the ground and fixed new tiles on the interlock road opposite the University College to the left of GHS Road.
The work at Hampankatta will continue even next Sunday.
