Waste by vehicles carrying fish spilled on roads: Citizens seek permanent solution.
March 16: Mangalore known for it’s fishing port at Bunder transports fish to several other places. The fish that is received at Bunder port popularly known as ‘Dhakke’ is sent to other cities for consumption. This is done in Lorry and other vehicles which a closed completely. Along with this the rotten fish is also transported in vehicles for disposal.
The spillage of waste water from vehicles transporting fish and the smell from vehicles transporting rotten fish is creating nuisance to the citizens.
During the phone-in programme conducted by Commissioner Sandeep Patil, citizens have complained regarding the same. Many people have requested the police officers to find a permanent solution to this problem.
Commissioner Patil mentioned to the reporters that the police would study the Kerala model where vehicles are prohibited from spilling waste water. He even said that the police will find a permanent solution and if needed an executive order would be issued after consulting the other departments concerned.
