Tulunad MLAs Pitch In To Make Tulu as Karnataka’s Second Official Language
February 19: MLAs from Tulunad have appealed to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and and Minister of Tourism, Kannada and Culture CT Ravi to make Tulu as the second official language in Karnataka. A memorandum has been submitted regarding the same.
Several tweet campaigns have been held to include Tulu in the eighth schedule of the constitution and also to make it as an official language of Karnataka since Tulu is the mother tongue of majority of people living in Coastal Karnataka.
Mangalore South MlA vedavyas Kamath said that the state government needs to declare Tulu as an official language of the state which will support the efforts to get a spot for Tulu in the eighth schedule of the constitution.
Mangalore North MLA Dr Y Bharat Shetty, Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik and Belthangady Municipal Harish Poonja were also present.
