210 new CCTV cameras in the Mangalore: 6,000 CCTV cameras is the target

May 29:  City Police Commissioner Sandip Patil has implemented the Karnataka Public Safety Act under which CCTV cameras are mandatory at public places. As a result of the drive undertaken by the city police, private building owners have installed 210 new CCTV cameras in the Commissionerate.

The Act has made it mandatory for all private establishments to install CCTV cameras. All commercial buildings, malls, multi-storied buildings, hospitals and other public places should mandatorily install CCTV cameras. The police are submitting information on the buildings that come under the Karnataka Public Safety Act. Notices have been issued to the building owners who failed to install cameras. Now, the inspection of buildings has begun. With this, the number of CCTV cameras installed in public places has risen to 1,830. The Commissioner has a target of at least 6,000 CCTV cameras in private buildings.
