461 cases of violation of excise law booked in Dakshina Kannada: DC Sasikanth Senthil

April 8: District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that a total of 461 Excise Law violation cases have been registered in Dakshina Kannada. Along with this three two-wheelers, three lorries, 1,907 pamphlets, three cars, one truck and one tanker have been seized in connection with the violation of model code of conduct. The total value of the seized properties is Rs 1.07 crore, he added.
The DC said that the control room number 1950 has received nearly 2,598 calls in Dakshina Kannada district after the announcing the election dates out of which 2,595 complaints have been disposed of. In Dakshina Kannada, 32 complaints through cVigil mobile app have been registered regarding violation of model code of conduct. Senthil said that the district-level media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC) has received 10 complaints. Cash of Rs 28 lakh was seized in the district and was handed over to the concerned after verifying the documents pertaining to the transportation of the cash. A total of 11,631 licenced gun owners have deposited their firearms at the respective police stations. Relaxation has been given to 86 licenced gun owners, he said.
