48th mass marriage at Dharmasthala: Click to know how many couples enter into wedlock

May 2: The 48th mass marriage was organised by Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala on May 1, Wednesday. During the mass marriage 102 couples entered into wedlock. The mass marriage was held at Godhuli Lagna at 6.48 pm at Amritavarshini Sabha Bhavana.

Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade handed over a saree, a blouse to the brides and a shawl and a dhothi to the grooms. The brides and grooms were taken out in a procession at the temple in the evening before entering the hall for marriage. The marriage rituals were held as per the customs of the respective castes of the brides and the grooms. The brides and grooms exchanged garlands at 6.48 pm. Among 102 couples who entered into wedlock, 19 are inter-caste marriages, 20 hail from SC, two ST, two Mogera, nine Marathi Naika, three Malekudiya, six Vokkaliga Gowda, five Veerashaiva and four hail from Vishwakarma community.
Sandalwood actor Shiva Rajkumar, Beltangady MLA Harish Poonja, and cine producer Chenne Gowda were also present during the occasion.
