Shiradi Ghat Four Lane Upgradation Work to Finally Begin: Centre Approves Rs 1200 Crore For The Project

Shiradi Ghat is a major lifeline and link road to the coastal region from Bengaluru and is very crucial for the development of the entire coastal region as also the malnad region of Karnataka. Shiradi ghat road needs immediate upgradation as it is usually in pitiable condition during the monsoon season and unmotorable and landslides leads to blockage of the entire stretch for days together.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved a ₹1,200 crore project to widen the Shiradi Ghat stretch on National Highway 75 into four lanes. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will take up the project and complete it in two years after which the entire stretch of the National Highway 75, between Bangalore and Mangalore, will become a four-lane road. The four-laning of the highway, on the ghat stretch from Marana Halli to Adda Hole, will accelerate the economic growth of the region, the CMO said.
