This Mangalorean Techie Is Raising Funds For Poor Patients: Worth Sharing

Software engineer by profession; Helping the disabled, with patients on trend. A total of Rs 40 lakhs for 30 families in just five months. This is the model for techie’s success story, which provided financial support.
Having worked for eight years with a private firm after completing BE in information science, Arjun Bhandarkar of Bantwal felt this was an opportunity to try something new on the side . Arjun’s family was beside him for his support.

When his father was hospitalized a year and a half ago, they had a health insurance policy but had to pay for immediate payments. The same motivated patients to seek help. Beginning with a small fundraising discussion in the circle of friends, the project is growing in number of donors.
The scheme was initially set up to help six poor patients a year, collecting Rs 100 each from the familiar. Then there are the online fund raising sites. In the first case, the patient was able to collect Rs 2.5 lakh.
A Facebook page called “Help to Save a Life: Land a Helping Hand Exchange” is open to patients. The fund raising site sends aid money. The money is given to the patient’s family by check. A photocopy of the check will be uploaded on the website for signature of the household for the assistance received. A photo of the assistance will be uploaded. Transfer is also being done by calling donors. Everything is recorded on Facebook.
