A 13-year-old boy was killed in an accident

May 9: A 13-year-old boy was killed while 10 others suffered injuries as a jeep overturned at Padubettu in Nelyadi on Tuesday night. The deceased boy has been identified as Sushmith (13), son of Sundar Gowda, a resident of Athrijalu in Nelyadi. The injured passengers were Sundar Gowda, Latha, Ayush, Janardhan Gowda, Manvith, Geetha, Pushpavathi, Yashaswi, Bhavani, and Sathishchandra. All the injured were admitted to a private hospital in Puttur.
Police said that Sushmith had acted in a Yakshagana show staged as part of the renovation of the Mahavishnu Temple at Shanthinagara, on Tuesday night. The family was returning home after watching Yakshagana when the accident took place.
