A Good Decision by MCC on Garbage from Nearby Town to Pacchanady Dumping Yard

September 14: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has decided not to allow dumping of garbage from nearby towns to pacchanady landfill.
MCC took this decision after the decent garbage sliding down at Pachanady.
Nearby towns like Ullal city municipality, Bantwal town municipality, Kotekar gram panchayat and other villages have been given three months time by the MCC regarding dumping of their waste.
Waste management has been a major challenge for MCC. The recent landslide of garbage at pacchanady has made MCC to issue notices to to local bodies.
MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer said that all the local self-administrations will have to set up their own waste management units in their areas within three months. They will be allowed to dump waste at Pachanady for the next three months only on the condition that that they should segregate waste at source before shifting it to pacchanady dumping yard.
