Accidents can be avoided: This is what needs to be followed

July 1: A workshop was organised for vehicle drivers by district police, Forensic Clinical Centre and department of Aneasthesia and Orthopedics of Kasturba Medical College in Manipal on Sunday, June 30.
Udupi SP Nisha James while speaking the occasion said that accidents can be checked by following traffic rules and regulations. She said that if the traffic rules are followed by each person travelling on the roads, accidents can be avoided. She mentioned that as  many as 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents in India every year.
SP Nisha said that a special drive will be undertaken to check riding two wheelers without helmets and driving without wearing seat belts in Udupi district. Along with this, Stringent action will be initiated against goods vehicles that ferry passengers. Action will also be initiated against school vehicles found carrying children in excess. She also mentioned that the accident victims should be rushed to the hospital soon after the incident and the public can also provide first aid before taking them to the hospital. SP assured that those who take  the accident victims to the hospital will not be harassed in any way.
