Alva’s Virasat Cultural Festival Will be Held From December 10 to 15 in Moodbidri: Here Are The Details

The 30th annual Alva’s Virasat national cultural festival will be held between December 10 and December 15 at the Alvas College campus in Puttige of Moodbidri. There will be cultural programmes between December 10 and December 14, while Krishi mela, food mela, art mela, artecrafts mela, photographs exhibition, and fruits and vegetables exhibition will be held on December 15.

Chairman of Alvas Education Foundation M. Mohan Alva said the six-day cultural festival will begin on December 10 with a big procession of all cultural teams from 6.35 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. The ‘Alvas Samskrutika Ratha’ will be pulled and there will be Ratharati between 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.

On December 11, the Alvas Virasat award will be presented to vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar between 5.45 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. Former Chief Minister M. Veerappa Moily will present the award. This will be followed by a concert by Pt. Venkatesh Kumar between 6.35 p.m. and 7.30 pm. Gujarat’s ‘Rang Malhar The Folk Art’ team will present different folk dances of Gujarat between 7.45 p.m. and 9 p.m. There will be cultural programme presentation by Alvas students from 9 p.m.

On December 12, there will be ‘Sangeeta Lahari’ programme by Gujarat’s Osman Mir and team between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. There will dance programmes from 8.15 p.m. by teams namely Udupi Kodavoor Nrutya Niketana, Chiguru Nrutyalaya from Bengaluru, Sanatana Natyalaya from Mangalore, Nrutya Vasanta Natyalaya from Kundapur, Ganga Nrutya Academy from Mangalore, and Arehole Prathistana, also from Mangalore.

On December 13, there will be ‘Sound of India’ programme be Neeladri Kumar and team between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. This will ballet featuring Bharatanatyam, Odissi and Kathak dance forms by Kolkata’s Ashim Bandhu Bhattacharya and team between 8.15 p.m. and 9 p.m. There will be Kuchipudi dance performance by Karti’s Performing Arts and Shri Rajarajeshwari Kalaniketana teams from 9 p.m.

On December 14, there will be three-hour long music programme from 25 artists from Chennai from 6 p.m.

There will also Handloom Sari Utsav by Udupi’s Padmashali Neekarara Prathistana featuring Kanchipuram, Udupi, Ilakal, and other handloom saris of the country. There will also be Indian Artisan Bazar showcasing handicraft products. The State-level Scouts Guides Rovers Rangers cultural festival will also be held during the period, Dr. Alva said.
