An exclusive Gynaecology Ward is Being Set up at Lady Goschen Government Hospital: Much Needed

An exclusive 40-bed gynaecology ward is being set up at the Lady Goschen Government Maternity and Child Health Hospital (MCH), Mangalore, to cater to the specific needs of patients. This will be an exclusive ward for patients with gynaecological problems other than delivery cases. The ward is expected to be dedicated to the public by the end of this year. The full-fledged ward will include an examination room and nurses’ counter along with rest room and other facilities.

Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Durgaprasad MR informed that the hospital is in talks with a company to develop the ward. At present, out of the sanctioned beds at the hospital, 310 are reserved for maternity and 22 for sick babies. Also, 20, beds are reserved for gynaecology-related cases. With the rise in gynaecology cases in recent years and with patients from across and outside the district visiting the hospital, there is an urgent need for setting up a separate ward and we are working towards it.
