Another ingenious method of smuggling gold was busted by customs officials at Mangalore International Airport

May 16: Foreign origin gold weighing 1,052.90 gms and worth Rs 34.75 lakh was seized by customs officials at Mangalore International Airport. The officials found the foreign origin gold 24KT cleverly concealed as two mercury coated ingots in the motor of Nikai brand mixer concealed in check in luggage from a passenger.
The passenger had arrived from Dubai by Spice Jet flight SG60 on Tuesday.
