Policemen suspended in connection with the escape of the rape & murder accused

April 3: The Udupi district police have suspended 4 constables  in connection with the escape of the rape and murder accused when he was being taken to Hiriyadka jail.
The constables who have been suspended are  Head constable Umesh, Constable Rehamatullah, Channesh and driver Suresh. The 4 police personnel have been suspended leading to disciplinary action considering it a deriliction of duty by Udupi District SP Nisha James.
The rape and murder accused Hanumanthappa Basappa kambali from Bagalkot had escaped while being taken to jail on Sunday after he was produced before a special court and was remanded in 14 days judicial custody at jail in Hiriyadka.
