Back to Back Accidents on This Highway: DK Police Writes to NHAI to Take These Measures

October 14: Adkar-Mavinakatte Cross in Sullia taluk has witnessed two major accidents which claimed seven lives. Two Back to Back accidents took place at the cross which is quite wide and in a good condition. The motorists tend to take advantage of this to overtake at the cross y by speeding which results in head-on collisions.
The Dakshina Kannada district police have declared it as an accident zone, and has written to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to take measures to prevent accidents at the spot.
In the letter to NHAI, the DK Police has NHAI to install reflectors and a median at the spot, as well as take other measures to avoid such accidents.  They have also been asked to install a signboard cautioning motorist to reduce their speed on the stretch.
