‘Beat The Plastic’ Campaign Organised in Coastal Districts: Click to Know

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), in collaboration with NCC UDAAN Karnataka chapter, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides and industrial workers, is undertaking ‘Beat the plastic’ campaign across coastal Karnataka. The journey, ‘Try the Karavali’ to spread awareness against plastic use started from Karwar on May 27 and reached Kaup of Udupi district on Saturday. Campaigns were held at Karwar, Gokarna, Kumta, Honnavar, Murdeshwar, Byndoor, Maravanthe, Kemmannu Hoode, Kaup and Panambur. Local authorities, including the state pollution control board, have supported the campaign.

In the last seven days, nearly 3,000 volunteers, including NCC cadets, coast guard, Navy officers, industrial workers, NGO members and the general public have collected 6.5 tonnes of waste. The awareness campaign will end on World Environment Day in Dakshina Kannada.
