Blue Flag Certification For Tannirbhavi Beach Soon: 60% Work Completed
The one-kilometre stretch at Tannibavi beach, is being developed into a Blue Flag beach as per the norms laid down by the government. The beach will be developed on the lines of Padubidri Beach which got Blue Flag certification. The works related to the Blue Flag certification for Tannirbhavi Beach are expected to be completed post-monsoon.
Mangalore Smart City Limited has to take up work at the entrance for shops as per the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) norms. Once the works are complete, a team will arrive and once they are satisfied with the works, the certification will be approved. Due to monsoons, the pace at which the works are being undertaken will slow down. Works are expected to be completed after the monsoon.
Padubidri and Kasarkod beaches of Karnataka have already been certified as Blue Flag beaches. The Blue Flag beach is an eco-tourism model endeavouring to provide to the tourists/beach-goers clean and hygienic bathing water, facilities/amenities, safe and healthy environment and sustainable development of the area.
