Bronze Statue to Honour Freedom Fighter Kedambadi Ramayya Gowda to be Unveiled on November 19 in Mangalore
The bronze statue of Kedambadi Ramayya Gowda, a great freedom fighter who fought against the British way back in 1837 by bringing together farmers, will be unveiled at Bavutagudda, Mangalore by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Adichunchanagiri Mutt Chief Dr Nirmalananda Maha Swamiji at a grand ceremony on November 19. He had sacrificed his life in the fight against the British.
Mangalore South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath informed that a gathering would take place at the Nehru Maidan football fields, with some 25,000 people expected to attend. “On this occasion, the CM will also lay the groundwork for a number of projects. MCC, Kannada, and Culture Departments would organise the event in collaboration with a number of other departments. He stated that a number of ministers from the Union, the State, and elected officials would participate.
The equestrian statue, including a 10-ft platform, is about 22-ft high. Made in Vijayawada, the statue was brought to Adi Chunchanagiri Samsthana on August 27, from where it was brought to Kodagu on August 28. It was brought to Mangaluru in a procession via Sullia on August 29.
