Bus Operators’ Union Propose To Increase The Private Bus Service & Ticket Fare

March 13: The bus operators’ union has proposed to the government to increase the private bus service and city bus ticket prices. The Department of Transport is likely to convene the Inter-State Bus Operators Association soon. The state government will issue a notification if the rate hike is agreed, and the revised rate will come into effect later.
There are private city and private bus services in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Ramanagara, Tumkur, Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore Rural and Chamarajanagar districts. There are about 1,200 service buses and city buses plying along the coast every day.
Service bus travel rates have not been revised since 2013. But in April 2018, based on Diesel, City Bus fares in Mangalore were increased to Rs 1 for the first stage.
