Caravan Tourism Receives Poor Response in Coastal District: Know More

In order to make tourism on the coast attractive, the state government had proposed the caravan tourism. The proposal has received poor response in the coastal districts even after a year of proposals from the tourism department as no stakeholders have come forward to start the service.

Caravan tourism will promote family-oriented tours, with basic facilities for stay and travel, including bedrooms and kitchens, and can be used to reach at tourist circuits/destinations, where adequate hotel accommodations may not be available. The state government has also proposed a caravan park, a place where caravan vehicles can be parked overnight in allotted spaces with amenities. A caravan park can be developed by anyone, who has an area of at least half an acre with a minimum of five parking bays. Parks should provide electricity, washrooms, and sewerage outlets in strict adherence to international/Indian environmental norms and best eco practices.

Dakshina Kannada district DC Mullai Muhilan MP said that the caravan tourism idea will be proposed again and taken up after the launch of the Blue Flag beach project in Tannirbavi, which is likely to be completed in two months.
