Church Grotto damaged by miscreants

May 19: Miscreants pelted stones and vandalised the Grotto of Christ the King Church at Punacha – Manela in Bantwal taluk on Saturday. The damage on the grotto in the Church located on Punacha – Toranakatte Road came to light at 10.30 am, eyewitness told police. A woman devotee claimed that the grotto was intact when she had visited the church at 5.45 am. The glass case of the grotto had been damaged.
Prakash D’Souza, Church Parish Priest, has filed a complaint, urging the police to initiate action against the miscreants. It may be recalled that messages on the alleged conversion taking place at the Church was circulated on social media a few days ago. The Vittal police had registered a case and investigation is on. Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police B M Lakshmiprasad visited the spot.
