Cops Accused of Forcefully Alighting Passengers From Taxis: This is What DC Ravikumar Says
It is accused that police are forcefully making passengers in running taxis to alight in order to take them for election duty. Some taxi drivers staged a protest near the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office of the city against the action of the police, who stopped their cars and made the passengers get down from the vehicle and took the vehicle for election duty.
The act of the police who reportedly forcibly made passengers alight from taxis and took the taxis for the purpose of election duty, has come under strong criticism from the Deputy Commissioner M R Ravikumar who is also the District Election Officer. The DC pointed out that government vehicles as well vehicles of government owned companies are used for election purposes, he said there is also scope to use public vehicles if there is necessity of more vehicles. However there is no way passengers can be made to alight from vehicles forcibly, the DC has made it clear.
