Cultural & Folk Art Troupes From Various Districts of The State to be Part of Mangalore Dasara
The Mangalore Dasara procession, which will be held as part of the Navaratri festival of Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple here, will showcase cultural extravaganza by folk art troupes from various districts of state. This will be sponsored by the Kannada and culture department.
Troupes will be brought to Mangalore on Wednesday to take part in the procession that attracts lakhs of pilgrims and tourists.
Minister of Kannada and culture V Sunil Kumar said that to enhance the festive spirit and to add glitter to the Dasara procession in Mangalore, like the famous Mysuru Dasara, folk troupes from other districts will be brought. Artists who present Nandidhwaja Kunitha, Karadimajalu, Bhajane Kunitha, Halagi Majalu, Kamsale, Patakunitha, Goravara Kunitha, Puravanthike, Hagaluvesha, Jaggalige, Dollu Kunitha, Mahila Veeragase, Lambani Nritya, Sambalavasana, Somana Kunitha’, Zanj Mela, Koragara Dolu Kunitha, Kangilu, Chande, a bhajan team with 50 members and several other folk-art troupes will make the Dasara procession of Mangaluru more attractive,” the minister said.
The Mangalore Dasara procession will commence from the temple premises at 4pm on October 5. The idols of Sharada and Navadurga will be taken in a procession from Kudroli temple. The procession will return to the temple in the wee hours and the idol of Sharada will be immersed in the temple lake.
The temple committee has announced that the procession will have several tableaux, tiger dance and other veshas (fancy dress).
