May 30: A cleanliness drive was held on the banks of River Nethravathi at Dharmasthala recently. Under the guidance of Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, Hemavathi V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, Supriya Heggade, temple employees, vehicle drivers and owners, local residents, gram panchayat members participated in the cleanliness drive.

Wastes collected from the river Nethravathi  including heaps of clothes, plastic, and others were carried away in a lorry.
Veerendra Heggade said that there was a need to create awareness on cleanliness among the people. He mentioned that Swacch Bharat concept by Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be developed in each and every household. He also said that the concept of cleanliness has achieved 50% success.
