March16: As the Loksabha elections will be held in Dakshina Kannada district on April 18th, the constituency is gearing up for various activities to be undertaken by Systematic Voters education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP) committee through Zilla Panchayat.
DK District SVEEP Committee Chairman Selvamani R said that various activities are being planned in order to increase the percentage of voters in exercising their votes in the constituency. While DK district has recorded 77.19% polling, Election commission has plans to increase the percentage by undertaking SVEEP activities.
To reach maximum number of voters SVEEP has planned activities like campaigns, handbills of total 1 lakh, 8000 posters & 55 hoardings highlighting the importance of casting vote will be used. This will be done to create awareness among voters. Electoral Literacy Clubs(ELC)have been set up in PUC, Degree Colleges, Medical Colleges & Polytechnics which are holding jathas & street plays. ELC has also started a drive called ‘Each One Check Ten’ where each member will check details of 10 voters.
Chunav Pathshala training camps have been started in 1861 polling  stations in the district to create awareness.  Social media platforms like facebook, Instagram, Twitter and many other medias have launched Online campaigns as well. Along with this demonstration of EVM’s & VVPAT’s are also being held.
