Dakshina Kannada District to Have Polling Stations With 100 Unique Themes: Click to Know

The Dakshina Kannada district administration is working towards increasing the poll percentage in the upcoming assembly election.
Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, through the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, has decided to have 100 unique polling stations in the district. The aim is to give the polling stations a vibrant look based on five concepts – Yakshagana, Kambala, Blue Waves, Go Green, and Heritage polling stations.

Some of the polling stations will attract voters through Warli art and there are plans to have arches at the entrance based on the themes. As many as 30 drawing teachers have already been selected for painting polling station walls and works are in progress. The polling booths will also have slogans to educate the public. The district has 1,861 polling stations. The themes have been selected after careful planning so that they reflect the essence of the district. While Kambala and Yakshagana highlight the traditional sport and theatre, blue waves are dedicated to the coastline and the beaches and go green is to spread awareness to protect the environment and the Western Ghats.
