Decision to Handover Mangalore Autorickshaw Blast Case to NIA Will be Taken Within Two Days

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that the decision on whether to hand over the Mangalore autorickshaw blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will be taken within two days. After chairing a review meeting with top police officials including DG&IG Praveen Sood, the home minister said that central agencies including the NIA have been working with the Karnataka police on the blast from day one.

Sood said that any case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act is brought to the notice of the NIA. On the demand for an NIA office in Mangalore, the home minister said that the issue has been brought to the notice of the Centre, and expressed confidence there would be an office soon.
A team of eight specialist doctors are treating the driver as well as the accused Shariq. The accused will be subject to interrogation once he recovers. The prime accused in the blast case, Mohammed Shariq, 24 is on the road to recovery and should be able to speak soon, the minister said.
