Delay in Introducing KSRTC E-Buses For Mangalore Division: This is The Reason

KSRTC Mangalore division to introduce electric buses and is expecting around 50 vehicles. Though the routes have been finalised, the setting up of charging stations at Mangalore, Kundapur, Manipal and Dharmasthala will take at least three months.

The charging stations proposed for Mangalore, Kundapur and Dharmasthala will be set up after a tender process. Setting up a charging station may take about three months.

The Mangalore division expects at least 50 buses and the Puttur division may get 40 buses. Mangalore division is planning to introduce these buses on Mangalore -Kasaragod, Mangalore – Manipal, Mangalore – Dharmasthala, Kundapur- Bhatkal on these routes as the demand is high. We are looking at cost-effectiveness as well. There has to be a charging station within 250 kilometres. The second lot of vehicles is expected to be released in September-November.
