DK District Administration Plans to Revive Travel Connections Between Mangalore to Lakshadweep

Following PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep, Dakshina Kannada district administration has taken step to to explore the option of tourist ship service to Lakshadweep which had discontinued few years ago. Mangalore travel agencies suggest that facilitating more travel connections to Lakshadweep & Andaman islands could be beneficial.

The Dakshina Kannada DC Mallai Muhilan mentioned that there is a need for immediate implementation of the project due to the advantages like shorter distance from Mangalore to Lakshadweep compared to Kochi.

The available options to reach Lakshadweep from Mangalore are Cruise ship & flight to Kochi and then to Lakshadsweep.

The administration of Lakshadweep said a dedicated jetty at Old Mangalore Port has received administrative approval under the Sagarmala Scheme.
