Eleven travel agents held under Operation Thunder: Here are the details
June 15: Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Railway Board jointly held a Operation country-wide called ‘Operation Thunder’. Under ‘Operation Thunder’, 11 travel agents in Dakshina Kannada, Kasargod, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts under Palakkad division. These travel agents were held for procuring and selling tickets illegally were arrested and 179 reserved tickets, worth Rs 2,67,660.
436 advance reservation tickets (including e-tickets), valued Rs 53.2 lakh, have been seized by RPF. The raids were conducted under the supervision of Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF, Palakkad, Manoj Kumar. Cases have been registered against the touts under Railway Act, 1989.
Similar special drives are being planned against black marketeers who cause inconvenience and disturbances to the genuine railway passengers.
