Fishing boat from Malpe capsized

April 9: A fishing boat from Malpe capsized near Devgad in Maharashtra on Monday April 8 night. The boat is identified as Shivaraksha, belonging to Dinesh Tingalaya from Hoode in Paduthonse and is estimated to cost around Rs 90 lakh.

The boat had left Malpe shore on April 6. The boat was into the deep sea fishing nearly 40 nautical miles off Ratnagiri coast in Maharashtra, when the tragedy occurred.  he boat had hit some sharp item at the bottom and water started gushing in. The fishermen immediately sent a message to other boats fishing nearby. Fishing boat Shivatejas rushed to the spot and rescued all the seven fishermen.
The steel boat had fishermen from Bhatkal, namely Sunil Manjunath, Suresh Manjunath, Jagnath Ram, Prashant Mudagi, Gajendra Panduranga, Krishna Mogera and Lohit Dharma.
